How to get a 96MB Low End VPS Review?

It has been more than four months since I have put up the very first post on 96MB.com, I was, honestly, a little surprised and honoured how much attention that this little blog has drawn from the low end VPS community and I truly appreciate my readers, you, who put up the time reading everything that I have been posted here.

I have also beginning to get more and more requests from various VPS providers to make the general community know more about the great services that they provide. So, just to make it somewhat “official”, here is a few FAQs you would like to get a 96MB Low End VPS Review:

How can I contact 96MB?

1. Leave a comment to this post, let me know the provider’s name and if there is any particular product line (Xen/OVZ/KVM) you would like to get a review about, OR

2. Send an email to admin AT 96MB DOT com and mention the provider’s name and the product line you would like to see an review for.

3. You can contact me by sending a private message to me on WHT, again with the provider’s name and the product line you would like a review for.

If I am a VPS user, can I request a review?

Absolutely! Please contact me using the three means mentioned above, please let me know the VPS provider’s name and the product line you would like a review for. However, since 96MB.com is dedicated to low end VPS providers, please kindly do not request a review for a 16-core CPU with 24GB RAM VPS. I will do my best to put in the reviews ASAP, however please note that I can not make a guarantee that the review is going to be up before the sale period is over/provider runs out of stock.

What do I need to do after contacting you?

Nothing! Basically I will sign up as any other ordinary customer, pay for the VPS like any other ordinary customer, do a bunch of tests to collect the data and finally submit a cancellation request within the cancellation time period that you are allowed for any other customer. The reason why I need to cancel the VPS is simply because I do not want to have 1000 VPS under my name at the end of the day.

However, if you do not offer any cancellation policy, and is still looking to get a 96MB.com review, then there are two options:

1. If a refund can be considered on a case-by-case basis, then please let me know that you will allow a refund (not in terms of credit but in the original form of payment), at the end of a specific period of time.

2. If strictly no refund is allowed, then a VPS review for this provider will be done either

  • when I actually need a VPS for any reason for myself (other projects, etc), OR
  • when the affiliated commission generated from 96MB.com is sufficient to cover the minimum period that I can sign up the VPS for

I encourage providers to have a refund policy because many times, it is simply a mismatch between the customers and the providers on the level of services they could expect to receive, and although it is unfortunate in a sense that both providers and customers have wasted their time and effort, I think no party should be penalized financially for this.

What is expected turnaround time?

I would normally check the email and the comments within 24 hours, and will normally send out a reply confirming that I have received the email/have read the post.

As for when the post will show up on this blog, I will aim for ASAP, however I really can’t promise any as I have regular jobs during the day. At the moment, I am aiming for one review per week, I try to get as much done as possible during the weekend, however it is not always possible. Again, everything that is done here is on a best-effort basis.

Do I need to pay 96MB for a review?

Short answer: No

Long answer: All the reviews that I have written here are for my personal interests as well as helping people who are interested in the low end VPS area to find the providers they will like. I have not received, nor I will ever receive, any compensation for the reviews on 96MB.com. I will from time to time, considering putting up an affiliated link for some providers, however it will be disclosed and a non-affiliated link will be made available at the same place as well. The affiliated commission earned will be used for the operational costs of 96MB.com only (i.e., cost of primary VPS hosting the blog and some potential candidate VPS for the eventual high-availability solution and sign up for some reputable providers who unfortunately do not offer any cancellation/refund).

Would I get a better review if I am willing to provide x% more as affiliate commission?

Again, short answer: No

Long answer: 96MB low end VPS reviews will be, at no point, affected by the amount of affiliated income generated through the review. I have always been trying to make the reviews as objective as possible, and let the figures speak for themselves.

96MB gave a great review on provider XYZ but when I sign up, the services absolutely sucks, now give me my money back!

Please note that 96MB Low End VPS Review represent just the author’s (i.e., me) own view and does not necessarily represent the level of services you can receive from the providers. I am, at no time, can be held responsible for any loss (direct or indirect, including but not limited to, financial and physical damages) that are caused due to these reviews.

Furthermore, since I am not working for any VPS providers, there is no way I can help you to obtain a refund/offer you a money-back guarantee.

Having said that, however, if you have some very unpleasant experience with a particular provider that I have done a review for and if you have substantial evidence to prove the accusations (i.e., it means you can not say I called provider XYZ at this time and they said my VPS is OK to be offline), I may, at my own discretion, add them to the review.

96MB has the worst theme/content/writing I have ever seen, it makes me/my wife/my dog/cat want to puke!

First, please accept my apologies for unable to fit the blog to your personal needs/tastes, and secondly, you are absolutely more than welcome to make constructive suggestions and comments. Although perhaps there will never be a time when everyone in this world would be happy with 96MB.com, I will try to make it better and better. Again, you can reach me by any of the means mentioned above.

Any other questions?

Feel free to contact me using one of the three means mentioned above.
