First, I want to say that I was not spending the whole week trying to find out who Joseph was, I really do not have time for that. However, by accident, I have found something interesting and figure I should share with all of you.

So Who is Joseph?

To be honest, I know as little about him as you, other than the website he left in his comments here and here. I was impressed by the amount of content that the website in his signature contains. Although unfortunately it is offline while I was writing this, and no, I am pretty sure I did not have any server sending any request to this site:

Fast Forward to Today…

I was browsing on WHT as it is just another lazy Sunday night and I am not really in the mood of doing any work, and stumbled upon this website: http://vpslist.net/. I was instantly attracted by the contents there, although the reviews are probably not as “technical” as 96MB VPS Reviews, I definitely think there are many interesting contents in that site (I mean, other than the ads and the affiliated links), for example, he has some benchmark competitions and the disk I/O competitions (I was tempted to put up the links here but since some of the links on those pages are affiliated links without any disclosure, please go there yourself for more information) and I scrolled down to the end of the page to try to find a way to contact the owner of the site when I saw this:

Being a Curious Person

Being a curious person is not always a good thing, and this time, this curiosity just caused me to spend another few minutes of my life wondering around the domain whois database:

Conclusion?

None. I guess my role as a review blot site writer is basically to present the facts, not making speculations.

What I want to say though, is that I do see many good aspects of VPSList and I encourage 96MB.com readers to go there and take a look (although please be aware of the affiliated links as there is no disclosure in the contents that the links are affiliated) . For one thing, most of the 96MB.com reviews are like taking a snapshot and all data are recorded in a relatively short period. Some providers have improved their services since then and unfortunately some have gone worse. On the other hand, VPSList seems to have kept the VPS longer and therefore are able to offer a better idea what you will likely to get in a relatively long run.

One thing I am against though, is to undermine those who develop similar contents as someone in order to drive more traffic and/or making your website more “reputable”. Although there are vast amount of blogs presenting tonnes of materials every day, I do think everyone has a unique style of writing and each one of these blogs, even on a similar topic, is actually vastly different and will be able to draw a unique group of readership.

And One Final Thought…

As a blog writer myself, I do value my own work and definitely hate it when there are some scraping sites publishing my contents word by word, without any original thoughts and claim it to be theirs. The same goes to any other form of intellectual property such as WordPress themes:
